Dr Odhrán Mc Carthy is a Principal Clinical Psychologist (Specialist) who studied in the University of Massachusetts (BA), University College Dublin (M.Psych.Sc), and Trinity College Dublin (PhD). He has worked within the Irish health service for the last 30 years and is currently positioned with the HSE adult mental health services of Dublin North County.
Odhrán is a frequent clinical supervisor and occasional lecturer (adjunct associate professor (TCD) and adjunct professor (UCD)). Odhrán developed a special interest in social anxiety early in his career and in 2014 established Social Anxiety Ireland (SAI) as a registered charity and non-profit company. Odhrán has also co-published several peer-reviewed research papers and academic book chapters on social anxiety. Odhrán also has a special interest in climate action and was instrumental in setting up the PSI SIG in for Addressing Climate and Environmental Emergency in 2022; Odhran currently holds the chairperson position. Odhran’s other interests include EUPD and chronic pain.
